- Yoav Lipshitz - Gameplay Programmer
Description:
Our team created a wave-based survival game inspired by "Brotato," where players must fend off waves of enemies while upgrading their skills and weapons to withstand increasing difficulty. We chose this game concept for its engaging mechanics, like upgrade and rogue-like systems, which offered an ideal balance of challenge and manageability. The result is a game that features modular and scalable mechanics, delivering complexity and variety for players.
Roles and Contributions:
- Jay-Lee Shih – Jay-Lee handled backend data management, focusing on game systems like upgrades and store logic. By converting mathematical formulas from the Brotato wiki into efficient code, he streamlined backend data processes, making it easy for teammates to integrate information without handling calculations themselves.
- Liam Moodley – Liam specialized in wave management and enemy logic. He designed each wave to escalate in difficulty, scripting enemy patterns and behaviors to challenge players as they progress. His focus on balancing enemy stats and scaling gameplay added depth and replayability.
- Lubabalo Dlwathi – Joining the team later in the project, Luba concentrated on UI/UX design and team communication. He developed a cohesive user interface to enhance player experience and improve accessibility. His emphasis on seamless code integration and effective communication supported smooth collaboration across team systems.
- Yoav Lipshitz – Yoav focused on systems design for player movement and weapon handling. By using inheritance chains and scriptable objects, he created a flexible weapon framework, enabling easy customization and a dynamic player experience. His work ensured that the player controls and weapon interactions felt intuitive and responsive.
The Brotato Clone project reflects our teamwork and commitment to creating a fun, challenging, and replayable game, with each core mechanic thoughtfully designed and integrated by our team.
